Mark 8:37

“Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Your soul. The deepest parts of you, the thing that screams when your mouth doesn’t move. The tears that fall in the dark. It’s everything you are. How could you possibly trade it for anything but God? How could you treat it as if it were dirt?
Yet so many people everywhere trade their souls in, for things that the world offers. We open the door to the deepest parts of us, and throw things in that don’t need to be there. We don’t count our souls as precious. What could possibly be worth this damage to yourself?
Today I will keep in mind that my life and the things I have aren’t what makes me – me. That the Lord and the things I AM are the things that make me – me.
