Mark 8:36

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”
A question needing an answer, because so many people today do just that. They sell their sold for the world, and gain no profit. These people gaining money, fame, fortune, popularity, renown, but what real profit to you gain? It would be like a racecar driver stopping off at the pit stop and buying a whole bunch of popcorn from a vendor. Sure, that’s a lot of popcorn, and he sure looked cool pulling out his giant money clip and buying all of it, but what profit did he gain at the end of the race? None, because he lost. It doesn’t even make any sense!
But so many of us do just that, we pull off the road (Matthew 7:13-14) and we take trips that don’t lead us to the finish line. Shouldn’t we run to win? I Corinthians 9:24-25 “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.”
Today, I will pray for the eyes to see that my petty needs are worthless compared to the crown I could win in the end.
